He made his acting debut as a lead actor in *Tholi Valapu* (2001) and played antagonist roles in *Jayam* (2002), *Nijam* (2003), and *Varsham* (2004). His performance as Raghu in *Jayam* won him the Nandi Award for Best Villain. He returned to lead roles with the faction action drama *Yagnam* (2004).
